Why does a Roman mosaic have a Greek inscription?
Roman describes the work’s historical setting; Greek identifies the inscription’s language. Greek figure names appear in mosaics of the eastern Mediterranean under Roman rule, including Tryphe examples from Olba and the Antioch region.
Is it the same work as the “Gypsy Girl” at Zeugma?
No. Zile and Zeugma are separate finds. The comparison in news reports concerns figured workmanship and geometric decoration. A shared artist or workshop has not been established.

Was the mosaic building a palace or a villa?
The building’s function remains unsettled. Statements have proposed a palace, an important social building and a villa. Semih Yaşar Çizikci described two room traces and a possible columned courtyard; this research did not locate a published complete plan.
